How to Enrol
Credit-bearing Courses offered under Credit Accumulation Mechanism (CAM)
1.  Go through the list of courses and decide which course you wish to apply. Check whether you have satisfied the entry requirements.
2.  Fill in Application Form SPD01. Read carefully the Guide for Applicants before completing the form.
3. 

Submit the application form by hand or by mail to the SPEED office at Room QR802, 8/F, Core R, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the following documents:

  • supporting documents, e.g. copies of certificates or transcripts of your previous studies, etc. to prove that you have fulfilled the entry requirements
  • a crossed cheque/bank draft payable to "The Hong Kong Polytechnic University" for the required course fee
  • a recent photo (size: 1" x 1.5") for applying a Student Card (for new CAM students only)
4.  Submit one crossed cheque/bank draft for each course you apply. Write your name and the course code on the back of the cheque/bank draft.
5.  Incomplete application forms and post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
Non Credit-bearing Courses
1.  Fill in Application Form SPD03. Read carefully the instructions before completing the form.
2.  Send your application form together with a crossed cheque/bank draft for the course fees by hand or by mail to the SPEED Office before the closing date. Crossed cheque/bank draft should be made payable to "The Hong Kong Polytechnic University".
3.  Submit one application form and one crossed cheque/bank draft for each course you apply. Write your name and the course code on the back of the cheque/bank draft.
4.  Incomplete application forms and post-dated cheques will not be accepted.
5.  Applications for certain courses must be made on special application forms. Please read the course information carefully and obtain the appropriate forms for completion.
Admission
1.  If entry requirements are specified in the course information, applicants who have met the relevant entry requirements will be shortlisted for admission. Otherwise, admission will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
2.  The School reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances.
What Happens Next
Credit-bearing Courses offered under Credit Accumulation Mechanism (CAM)
1.  You will receive an acknowledgement of application from the School about two weeks after submitting your application.
2.  If your application is successful, you will receive a written notification from the School confirming your enrolment about two weeks before commencement date of the course. You will also receive the course schedule and information about pursuing study at SPEED.
3.  If your application is unsuccessful or if the subject is cancelled, you will be notified in writing by the School. Course fee will be returned to you by ordinary mail and your application form will be destroyed.
4.  Please contact the School Office if you do not receive any notification one week before the commencement date of the course.
Non Credit-bearing Courses
1.  If your application is successful, you will receive a written notification from the School confirming your enrolment about two weeks before commencement date of the course. You will also receive the course schedule and information about pursuing study at SPEED. Official receipts will be distributed in the first lesson.
2.  If your application is unsuccessful or if the course is cancelled, you will be notified in writing by the School. Course fee will be returned to you by ordinary mail and your application form will be destroyed.
3.  Please contact the School Office if you do not receive any notification one week before the commencement date of the course.
Closing Date for Application

Unless otherwise specified, the closing date for applying credit-bearing courses offered under Credit Accumulation Mechanism (CAM) or non credit-bearing courses is normally three weeks before the commencement date of the course.

Courses may be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances. Early enrolment from applicants will be appreciated.

Refund Policy

According to the School's Refund Policy, course fees paid are normally not refundable, except for cases of unsuccessful applications and course cancellation. Fees paid and places enrolled are not transferable.

The refund will be sent to the applicant by ordinary mail. If the applicant does not receive any refund 4 weeks after receipt of 'Notification of Refund', please check with the School Office at 3400 2828.

Non-local Applicants

Non-local students are defined as persons entering Hong Kong for purpose of education with a student visa or entry permit issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government.

Generally speaking, it is very difficult for non-local students applying for short courses (including both credit-bearing and non credit-bearing courses) to be approved for student visas. Neither are they entitled to any financial assistance.

Discounts on SPEED Programmes/Courses
Full members of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA) are eligible for a 10% discount on fees for non credit-bearing courses offered by the School. Holders of PolyU Privilege Card may also enjoy discounts on fees with discount rate ranging from 5% (for credit-bearing courses under CAM) to as much as 10% (for non credit-bearing courses). Applicants entitled for discounts should submit their applications together with a copy of their FHKPUAA membership cards or PolyU Privilege Cards. Please contact the School Office for details.
Use of Information

Personal data provided as part of an application for admission will, during the admission process, be used solely for the purpose of admission, and in this connection the data will be handled by SPEED and other relevant institutions authorized to receive it.

Application forms and supporting documents of unsuccessful candidates will be destroyed after the admission process has been completed.

Application forms and supporting documents of successful candidates will become part of the student file and the data will thereafter be handled by SPEED and other relevant institutions authorized to receive it.

Under the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, applicants have rights to request access to, and the correction of, their personal data. Applicants wishing to access or make corrections to their data should submit written requests to SPEED.

報名手續
報讀學分累積制的課程
1.  細閱課程簡介,選定有意修讀的課程。,請確保你於報讀時已符合所選課程的入學條件。
2.  請填妥報名表格SPD01。填寫表格前,請細閱申請人須知。
3. 

請將填妥的申請表及以下文件郵寄或交回學院辦事處(地址:九龍紅磡香港理工大學R棟8樓QR802室)。

  • 有關的證明文件,例如畢業證書副本、學業成績表副本等,以證明你已達到入學要求。
  • 劃線支票或銀行本票作支付學費之用,抬頭請寫上「香港理工大學」。
  • 一張近照(1吋X1.5吋),作申請學生證之用(第一次報讀學分累積制課程人士適用)。
4.  每申請一項課程,需獨立遞交一張劃線支票或銀行本票,並於支票或本票背面寫上姓名及課程編號。
5.  資料不全的報名表及期票恕不受理。
報讀非學分的課程
1.  請填妥報名表格SPD03。填寫表格前,請細閱申請人須知。
2.  填妥之申請表須連同劃線支票或銀行本票,於課程截止報名日期前郵寄或交回學院。劃線支票或銀行本票抬頭請寫上「香港理工大學」。
3.  每申請一項課程,須獨立遞交一張申請表及一張劃線支票或銀行本票,並於支票或本票背面寫上姓名及課程編號。
4.  資料不全的報名表及期票恕不受理。
5.  若干課程備有指定的報名表格,請向學院索取,並細閱課程資料。
取錄方法
1.  除特別註明外,課程一般均以「先到先得」方式取錄學員。如課程資料註明入學條件,申請人須符合有關的入學資格及通過甄選程序,方會獲取錄。
2.  學院保留因人數不足或特殊情況下取消課程的權利。
申請結果
報讀學分累積制的課程
1.  申請人在交回申請表約兩星期後,會收到由學院發出的申請紀錄回條。
2.  成功申請者大約在開課前兩星期會收到學院發出的入學通知、上課時間表及學生須知。
3.  申請若不獲接納或所選的課程取消,申請人將收到學院的書面通知。學院會把學費及通知書以平郵方式退還申請人,並銷毀有關的申請表。
4.  若申請者於所報讀課程開課前一星期仍未收到通知,應自行向學院查詢。
報讀非學分的課程
1.  成功申請者大約在開課前兩星期會收到由學院發出的入學通知、上課時間表及學生須知。 學費收據將於課程第一堂派發。
2.  申請若不獲接納或所選的課程取消,申請人將收到學院的書面通知。學院會把學費及通知書以平郵方式退還申請人,並銷毀有關的申請表。
3.  若申請者於所報讀課程開課前一星期仍未收到通知,應自行向學院查詢。
截止報名日期
除特別註明外,課程截止報名日期一般為開課前三星期,但學員應儘早報名為宜。課程可因報讀人數不足或其他特殊情況而被取消。
學費退還

按照學院學費退還政策,除申請不獲接納或所選讀的課程取消外,所有已繳學費恕不退還。學費及學額亦不可轉讓他人。

學費退還會以普通平郵方式退還給申請者。若申請者於收到學費退還通知書四星期後仍未收到有關退款,請致電學院辦事處查詢(電話:3400 2828)。

非本地申請人

非本地學生是指持有香港特區政府入境事務處簽發的學生簽證來港就讀的人士。

一般而言,報讀短期課程(包括學分累積制及非學分課程)的非本地申請人很難獲批學生簽證,亦不能獲得任何學費資助。詳情可向香港特區政府入境事務處查詢(電話: 2824 6111, 網址: http://www.info.gov.hk/immd/)。

理大專業進修學院提供進修優惠
理大校友會聯會會員報讀學院舉辦的非學分課程,可享九折的進修優惠。理賞卡持有人亦可享九五折(學分累積制課程適用)至九折(非學分課程適用)的學費優惠。符合有關優惠的申請人須一併遞交入學申請及校友會聯會的會員證或理賞卡副本。請向學院辦事處查詢有關優惠詳情。
申請資料的用途

報名表內有關的個人資料將僅供本學院或有關獲授權機構作處理申請入學事宜之用。

如入學申請不獲接納,本學院將銷毀一切有關的個人資料。

成功申請者的個人資料將會存入學生檔案,並由本學院或有關獲授權機構處理。

根據個人資料(私隱)條例,申請人有權查閱及更改其個人資料。申請人如須查閱或更改其個人資料,請來函本學院。
