About The College of Estate Management
The College of Estate Management was founded in 1919 and granted its Royal Charter in 1922. It was the first to provide specialist courses in land and construction management and now has a worldwide reputation. Following the merger of its full-time teaching role with Reading University in 1969 and its move to the Reading campus, the College became closely associated with the University, while remaining an entirely independent self-funding body with charitable status. It has a governing Board which includes senior figures from the property and construction sector, and nominees of the University of Reading. The principal function of the College is to offer courses leading to professional and post-qualification awards through distance learning methods. The College has over 2,000 students worldwide.
