Mr KM Cheung is a seasoned financier with years of experience as a member of the senior management of the Citibank and Hang Seng Bank. At the invitation of SPEED, he became a member of its School Advisory Committee last year to offer his professional advice on the School's strategic planning and long-term development.

Rising to the challenge of the times
As wealth management is a relatively new concept to Hong Kong, there is vast potential to be tapped from it as a new industry. Mr Cheung believes that, in order to meet the ever-changing needs of different markets and clients, practitioners in the field should continue to equip themselves and update their professional expertise so that they are ready when the opportunity arises.

Application-oriented education to groom all-rounded talent 　
From a bank employee to an entrepreneur with his own business, Mr Cheung has amassed a wealth of experience in this field over the years. It is his conviction from his own experience that the study programmes in finance and business offered by SPEED should be practical, rather than academic in orientation. Seminars, visits and internship programmes are a good way to enable the students to keep their finger on the pulse. Professional training aside, it is also important to nurture their language and communication skills. Mr Cheung cites computation skills as an example. In much the same way as the four computation skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) should be taught as a complete whole, an all-rounded education should equip students with generic skills for different positions in the workplace.

Mr Cheung believes the School's practice to conduct thorough research, build up close business partnerships and bring in programmes from reputable universities overseas will lay the groundwork for lifelong education in Hong Kong.

從受聘於銀行集團到自己開創私人公司，張先生多年累積的經驗使他深信專業進修學院提供的財經及商業課程必須實用性強，不能過於學術化。學院可透過舉辦講座、參觀、實習計劃幫助學員緊貼市場脈膊。除了訓練專業知識，同時需要培養語文及溝通技巧。張先生以計算為例，加、減、乘、除四式運算，缺一不可，透過全人教育，學員在不同的工作崗位上自能應付自如。

張先生認為學院開辦課程前經過深入研究，與業界聯繫緊密，並引入海外著名大學的課程，有利加強本港推行終身學習。
