Dr. Suk-Chong Tong received her Ph.D. from the School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University. Majoring in public relations and advertising, she obtained her Bachelor Degree of Social Sciences (Honors) in Communication and Master of Philosophy Degree in Communication from Hong Kong Baptist University. She got her Master Degree of Cultural Studies (Distinction) from Lingnan University.

She started her teaching life at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, at which she was Instructor for Higher Diploma programmes. Before joining PolyU SPEED, she had taught at the undergraduate level in different universities. She had taught public relations and advertising subjects and supervised honours projects for the Public Relations and Advertising Option at the Department of Communication Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. She had also taught advertising subjects for the Undergraduate Degree programmes at the Department of Media and Communication, City University of Hong Kong. Since 2007, she has guest lectured members in government units and corporations on safety promotion at the Occupational Safety and Health Council.

Prior to teaching in universities, she had worked in the areas of marketing and public relations for several multi-national corporations in private banking, real estates, and non-government sectors. She had also worked in a financial public relations agency in which she gained experience in account servicing for companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

She has sole-authored journal articles and conference papers in communication studies and corporate communication. Since 2011, she has served as an article reviewer for Journal of Public Relations Research. Her research interests include financial communication, financial public relations, financial advertising, organizational risk transparency, cultural economy of finance, and socio-cultural effect of risk.
