Financial Assistance

 

Students with financial needs may apply for the Government's Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (NLS) or Continuing Education Fund (CEF).  Students registered on local courses/programmes or registered and exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance (Chapter 493) offered by SPEED are eligible to apply for NLS.  A large number of our courses/ programmes have also been included in the list of CEF.  Students of these CEF-reimbursable courses/ programmes may apply for subsidies from the government.

Non-means Tested Loan Scheme

The Non-means Tested Loan Scheme, funded by the Government, has been extended to provide financial assistance to students of the programmes/courses offered by the School.  For details about eligibility and the list of programmes/courses covered by the Scheme, please contact the Student Financial Assistance Agency.

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)

 

In preparing Hong Kong for the transition to a knowledge-based economy, the Government has set up the Continuing Education Fund to subsidise adults with learning aspirations to pursue continuing education and training courses in the following areas:

  • Business Services
  • Creative Industries
  • Design
  • Financial Services
  • Language
  • Logistics
  • Tourism

Each eligible applicant will be reimbursed up to 80% of the course fee or $10,000, whichever sum is the less. These applicants may claim reimbursement of more than one reimbursable course, subject to a ceiling of HK$ 10,000 during their lifetime.

 

Eligibility

 

Persons who -

  • are Hong Kong residents who have the right of abode or the right to land or to remain in Hong Kong without restriction;
  • are aged from 18 to 65 at the time of application and on seeking reimbursement of their fees; and  
  • have enrolled in and paid the tuition fee for a reimbursable course before the course commences.

Degree holders are also eligible to apply for the CEF with effect from 1 September 2003. They should submit the application on or after 1 September 2003 but before the course commencement date.

 

The Office of Continuing Education Fund (OCEF) has laid down other conditions in relation to the eligibility under CEF. Applicants are advised to consult OCEF for details:
